What Customers Say About Us

All our Google reviews are 5 stars. People seem to appreciate three things:

  • We communicate properly. From the first message to the finished job, you'll know what's happening and when.
  • We're professional but friendly. No pressure sales in the shop, no mess left behind after installation.
  • We turn up when we say we will. Sounds basic, but apparently it's not that common.

The lads were very friendly and respectful and left the sitting room spotless. They’ve worked none stop and the results are amazing.

Come to the Showroom in Houghton le Spring

There's a reason we have a physical showroom - you need to see a stove in person before you commit. Pictures on a website don't show you the size, the finish, or how the door feels when you open it.

Our showroom:

  • Media wall examples set up
  • Open during the week (check Google for exact times)
  • Appointments available outside hours if needed
  • Easy parking at Dubmire Industrial Estate

We're local to the area. We cover Houghton le Spring, Durham, Sunderland, and surrounding towns. There's no other dedicated stove shop within about 7 miles, so you're not going to find this range nearby.

We'll Fit It Too
(If You Want Us To)

Buy your stove from us and we can handle the installation. Most standard log burner installs take a day. Media walls take 3-4 days. If you need a false chimney breast built, allow 3 days for the full job.

What's included:

  • Professional fitting by experienced installers
  • All the work except gas capping (you'll need a Gas Safe engineer for that if you're replacing a gas fire)
  • Everything tested before we leave
  • Cleaned up afterwards

How it works:

Send us a photo of your chimney breast and a few details about your room. We can usually tell you if it's doable without needing to visit first. If the job looks straightforward, we'll book you in. Right now we're booking 4-8 weeks ahead - winter's busy season for us.

Prefer to fit it yourself?

No problem. Buy the stove and flue pack from us and sort your own installer. We're not precious about it.

Your Questions Answered

Do I need a chimney for a log burner?
You'll need either an existing chimney or we can build a false chimney breast with a flue system. If you've got an old fireplace opening, we can work with that. If you've got nothing, we can build from scratch. Send us a photo and we'll tell you what's possible.
How long does installation take?
A standard log burner install takes one day. If we're building a false chimney breast as well, allow three days. Media walls typically take 3-4 days to complete. We'll give you an exact timeframe when you book.
Can I just buy a stove without installation?
Absolutely. Plenty of customers buy from us and arrange their own fitter, or install it themselves if they know what they're doing. We're happy either way.
What's the difference between wood-only and multi-fuel stoves?
Wood-only stoves burn logs. Multi fuel stoves burn wood and smokeless fuel. Which one you need depends on whether you want the option to burn both, and sometimes whether you're in a smoke control area. We'll help you work it out in the shop.
Do you have HETAS-certified installers?
Yes. We have both Hetas and Oftec registered installers.
What maintenance does a log burner need?
Get your chimney swept once a year. That's pretty much it. We'll remind you about this when we fit your stove, but there's no complicated maintenance routine to worry about.
How much does a log burner cost?
Depends on the model. Our entry-level stoves start around £600, but our most popular one (the Percy Doughty model from the Penman Collection) is about £1,200. People often come in planning to spend less, then choose that one anyway because they prefer it. We'll show you the prices in the shop so there are no surprises.
How far in advance do I need to book installation?
Right now we're booking 4-8 weeks ahead. Winter's our busy season (everyone wants a wood burner when it's cold). If you're thinking about it, best to get in touch sooner rather than later.
